DescriptionFew things illustrate the Godfather of Soul’s rags-to-riches story as well as this shoeshine stand. From twelve years of age, James Brown worked the streets of Augusta, Georgia using this stand to earn a living on 9th street in front of the WRDW radio station before he gifted the world with his incendiary talent and became one of the most beloved figures in music history. He would later purchase that radio station and in 1993 that road was renamed "James Brown Boulevard" in his honor.About the Artist
